Document Controller – Main Civils
Location: London/Ipswich with Hybrid Working (3 days in the office, 2 days from home)

The Civil Works Alliance (CWA), appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together three industry-leading contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the full civils scope, including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.
As a
Document Controller, you will be responsible for managing and executing document control activities for CWA, ensuring all project documentation is accurately processed, distributed, and maintained to meet the highest standards.
You will also collaborate closely with the Information Manager to support the implementation and continuous management of the document control system (Asite), playing a vital role in enabling efficient information flow across the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage registration, dispatch, filing, and archiving of all formal documents within the CWA and Sizewell C Client EDMS, ensuring accurate tracking and compliance.
- Coordinate document reviews, approvals, and quality checks to ensure compliance with project standards before issuing into the Client EDMS.
- Track and control project deviations (RFIs, FCRs, Non-conformances) through to closure, and assist with compiling handover reports.
- Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and the Client to facilitate smooth document flow, training stakeholders on document control procedures and EDMS tools.
- Allocate unique document numbers, maintain metadata, control obsolete documents, and monitor EDMS workflows to ensure the correct versions are in use.
- Maintain audit trails, distribution matrices, and provide regular reporting to support project documentation integrity and compliance.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
Essential
- Experience in document control and information management on multi-discipline projects.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Proficient in document control systems and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills, able to train and support teams at all levels.
- Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment and quick to learn new software.
- Collaborative and supportive team player with good listening skills.
Desirable
- Experience on major construction projects.
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 and ISO 9001 document control processes.
- Familiarity with Asite or similar document control systems.
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
