Argus Media is seeking an Editor for our Argus Eurasia Energy service, which provides news, analysis, prices and data on oil and gas markets across Russia, central Asia, the Caspian region and eastern Europe.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role managing one of our prestigious and thought-leading business intelligence reports.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record as a reporter and editor covering energy and commodity markets, and substantial expertise in the oil and gas markets of Russia, central Asia and the Caspian. They will have excellent writing and editing skills, strong news judgement, and an ability to work well with and motivate editorial teams to produce first-rate news and analysis.
The Editor will oversee the publication of the weekly Argus Eurasia Energy report, setting the tone and direction of coverage and commissioning and editing copy from reporters and stringers to ensure our reporting remains timely, accurate and authoritative. The Editor will also work with and support our news desk in overseeing, commissioning and editing daily news from our reporters on oil and gas markets in Russia, the Caspian and central Asia.
Additionally, the Editor will also oversee our monthly Argus Nefte Transport report, covering the logistics of oil transportation from and within Russia, the Caspian region and central Asia, and the English language version of our weekly Argus Caspian Markets report, which covers crude and products trade within the Caspian region and central Asia.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee publication of the weekly Argus Eurasia Energy report, as well as the monthly Argus Nefte Transport and weekly Argus Caspian Markets reports.
Commission and edit and publish daily news, analysis and data-led stories on relevant oil and gas markets and political and regulatory developments for Argus Eurasia Energy subscribers.
Maintain high editorial and ethical standards across all output, prioritizing accuracy, timeliness, fairness and adherence to Argus style.
Maintain and develop the reports’ pricing and data content, including the use of data visualization tools to enhance news and analytical coverage.
Help shape and lead our wider coverage of oil and gas markets across Russia, the Caspian and Central Asia, including writing analytical features and editorials for related business intelligence services.
Collaborate closely with colleagues in our sales, marketing and business development teams to understand and anticipate subscriber needs, and develop the editorial content of the service to better meet those needs
Support the sales and business development colleagues by representing and promoting Argus Eurasia Energy and related services in meetings with clients and prospects.
Support marketing colleagues via initiatives including webinars, podcasts, insight papers.
Skills And Experience
Proven track record in editing energy, commodities or financial news
Strong knowledge of oil and gas markets, and especially markets in Russia, the Caspian and central Asia, including upstream, downstream, exports, infrastructure and energy policy
Excellent English-language writing and editing skills and the ability to rewrite quickly and clearly
Sound news judgement and ability to make editorial decisions under deadline pressure
Working knowledge of the Russian language would be an advantage in this role
