Educational Psychologist
Salary range: Soulbury A 3-8 £49,215 - £59, 809 starting at p5 £53,554 p.a. plus OLW and fantastic benefits
Welcome Payment: £4,000 (after 6 months and successful probation)
Retention Payment: £4,000 per annum (after 12 months)
Contract: Permanent
Hours of work: Full-time or part-time, flexible hours and up to 36 hours per week
Location: Croydon, car allowance and paid parking
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide a psychological service to children, young people and their parents; educational establishments and the Local Authority (LA). You will contribute to the identification and assessment of the needs of children and young people experiencing a wide range of difficulties. As an Educational Psychologist, you will advise on, plan and promote interventions designed to meet these needs and to advocate preventative measures and good practice.
We are looking to appoint full or part-time, qualified and registered Educational Psychologist, to join our team in September 2026. We welcome applications from either experienced psychologists or from current trainees (including for a September 2027 start). We are a committed and hardworking team who undertakes statutory work on behalf of Croydon Council and trades psychology time with local schools. We have a great reputation with our schools, who always want more of our time! We work in partnership with local teams and have excellent relationships with our local head teachers and other agencies. About You
Educated to BSc/BA level in psychology, recognised by The British Psychological Society.
Have a recognised postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology.
Be registered with Health and Care Professions Council HCPC.
Knowledge of the current legislative framework within which LAs and Educational Psychology Services operate.
Have a good understanding of child and adolescent development from 0-19 years and beyond (to 25) and of common developmental problems.
Sensitivity to and concern for the needs of children, young people and their families.
Experience of working directly with children and young people within educational or community settings for a minimum of two years.
