Milk & Effluent Treatment Plant Technician

Bridgwater | Full-time | Permanent

Shift Pattern: Mon–Fri, rotating 06:00–14:00 / 12:00–20:00

Salary: Competitive

We’re looking for a proactive Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of our Effluent Treatment Plant at our Bridgwater dairy. You’ll work largely independently, covering both raw intake and control room duties to help maintain high environmental and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and optimise day‑to‑day running of the ETP
  • Maintain effluent quality and meet environmental and legal standards
  • Analyse operational data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to manage risk
  • Complete basic Asset Care tasks (simple first‑line maintenance and basic equipment checks)
  • Investigate issues, support problem‑solving, and help implement long‑term fixes
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and compliance paperwork
  • Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and wider site teams
  • Liaise with contractors and external specialists as required
  • Train and support operators to improve plant capability and safe operation
  • Escalate risks or abnormalities promptly and recommend corrective actions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of ETP performance and reliability

  • Skills & Experience

    • Experience in food/drink processing or FMCG (desirable)
    • Understanding of ETP processes and environmental responsibilities
    • Strong analytical and communication skills
    • Engineering or ISO 14001 knowledge (desirable)
    • Basic Asset Care experience (e.g., simple first‑line maintenance tasks)
    • Ability to work independently with a proactive, can‑do mindset
    • Reliable, methodical, and flexible with strong timekeeping habits
