We have an exciting opportunity for a Permanent,
Part-time Electoral Services Support Officer to join Southampton City Council (SCC) in the Democratic & Electoral Services Team/Service.
About The Team
You’ll be joining a collaborative and supportive Electoral Services team that thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The team works closely together to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services, especially during key events like elections and annual canvasses. With a strong emphasis on adaptability, professionalism, and continuous improvement, this is a great opportunity to be part of a team that plays a vital role in upholding democratic processes.
About The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Elections Team to assist with the delivery of elections and electoral registration for the council. You will need to be a highly motivated person, willing to take on a task and see it through to completion.
This is a great opportunity for a well organised individual with a proven track record of working successfully to tight deadlines. Excellent written & verbal communication skills are essential, together with an ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure, both as part of a busy team and on your own initiative
The nature of the team’s workloads means that a flexible work pattern is essential. During peak periods – April to May (election timetable) and August to November (annual canvass) – it may be necessary to work some additional hours. Similarly, outside of these peak periods fewer hours may be required. In addition, and regarding the statutory election timetable, some working outside normal business hours, including occasional weekend work, may be required.
