Position: Electrical and Facilities Engineer

About The Role

We have a new opening for an Electrical and Facilities Engineer working as part of small facilities team supporting our Cardiff site. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain further practical, hands-on engineering experience with training available for the right person.

No two days will ever be the same as you will be carrying out planned preventative maintenance, supporting breakdown repairs and general facilities maintenance as well. We are looking for a technician who is adaptable, a team player and eager to learn.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Carry out corrective and preventative maintenance activities generated from Work Orders.
  • Use the site CMMS (Maximo) daily to schedule, record, and complete maintenance, installations, and repairs.
  • Use the BMS to ensure building services and monitored equipment are operating correctly and optimised for efficiency.
  • Support statutory compliance activities across the facility (e.g., legionella testing).
  • Manage routine and planned maintenance and testing of infrastructure, emergency systems, and site equipment, with a focus on mechanical systems.
  • Review RAMS and issue permits to work to ensure safe systems of work are fully adhered to.
  • Ensure maintenance and repairs are completed effectively to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure all maintenance and service contract activities comply with regulations, company policies, and ISO standards, with full documentation.
  • Lead mechanical projects and provide technical guidance to colleagues on mechanical, engineering, and general construction matters.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of materials, parts, and equipment required for maintenance activities.


Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Time‑served Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
  • Strong experience working with a wide range of contractors and internal customers.
  • Proven track record as a Maintenance Technician or in a similar maintenance-focused role.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (highly advantageous).
  • Broad knowledge of electrical systems, maintenance practices, and engineering principles.
  • Excellent skills in electrical maintenance, installation, and fault finding.
  • Strong awareness of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) legislation and safe working practices.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to change.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify improvements and solve problems effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence.
