Role Description
The Electronic Engineer provides technical expertise in the electronic aspects of torpedo hardware design, repair, and maintenance. The role supports legacy products through design and design maintenance activities, including the insertion of new technologies. The Electronic Engineer applies broad engineering knowledge, skills, and experience, working in line with established company approaches, techniques, and governance within the electronics domain.
Core Duties
Design and development of electronic assemblies, from specification through testing to release into service
Maintenance of existing designs and implementation of technology insertion programmes including fault diagnosis and rectification
Translation of requirements into design detail
Component selection, schematic capture, and support to PCB layout
Specification of bespoke procured items
Interfacing with related disciplines including mechanical engineering, ILS, Safety, and Production
Follow the engineering lifecycle and undertake progress, peer and design reviews across various projects
PCB Obsolescence management
Essential Skills
HND or Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent practical experience
Ability to work with a PCB designers and support on PCB/circuit layout
Experience of complex design techniques including various communications protocols such as RS422 is desirable
Experience of generating component level designs for introduction into volume production using computer-aided engineering
Experience of analogue to digital and digital to analogue conversion & FPGA/CPLD development is desirable
The Torpedo Repair And Maintenance (TRAM) Team
As an Electronics Engineer you will undertake design and electrical integration in respect of legacy products and technology insertion. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of the electrical aspects of the Spearfish Torpedo.
