Description

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Software Engineer to design and develop system-level software for advanced computing and medical device platforms used in hospital operating room environments. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams across software, hardware, computer vision, and cloud platforms to build secure, reliable, and high-performance embedded systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Linux kernel development, device drivers, embedded C/C++, hardware integration, and secure system architecture.


Key Responsibilities

• Work within highly technical multidisciplinary teams including application software, embedded systems, computer vision, and cloud platform engineers.

• Support the development and productization of custom computing and medical-grade devices used in hospital operating rooms.

• Collaborate closely with hardware teams to develop and maintain Linux kernels and device drivers for hardware platforms.

• Architect, develop, test, and debug system services and hardware-dependent software applications

.

• Develop and maintain Linux kernel drivers and low-level software for peripherals such as I2C, SPI, UART, and V4L2 frameworks.

• Conduct and participate in embedded software code reviews and maintain high code quality standards.

• Build software infrastructure supporting reliable system deployment and updates.

• Participate in security, regulatory, and compliance processes for medical-grade systems.

• Perform risk analysis, mitigation design, and verification testing for embedded software systems.

• Support design transfer to manufacturing and product deployment activities.


Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field

• Extensive experience working with Linux device drivers and kernel components

• Strong expertise with Linux kernel subsystems, services, and system configuration

• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals

• Expert programming skills in C/C++ and shell scripting

• Experience with embedded Linux build systems such as Yocto or Buildroot

• Experience in system bring-up and hardware integration

• Knowledge of secure system design, hardware root of trust, and cryptographic key management

• Experience using Linux diagnostic and performance tools

• Ability to read and understand hardware schematics and technical documentation

• Strong understanding of software engineering design principles and system architecture

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing remote hardware devices and deployed systems

• Programming experience in Python

• Experience with NVIDIA embedded computing platforms

• Experience with microcontroller development

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS

• Experience with automated testing frameworks

• Knowledge of video processing, camera sensors, streaming protocols, and codecs

• Understanding of core security concepts and secure system design

• Experience developing software for medical devices or other safety-critical systems


Experience Required

• Minimum 7+ years of relevant embedded software development experience, or

• 5+ years with an advanced degree
