About The Role

Balfour Beatty are looking for an Emergency Response Advisor to join our Net Zero Teeside team in Redcar.

The Emergency Response Coordinator is responsible for leading, coordinating and controlling the site or project response to emergency situations, ensuring that emergency arrangements are implemented effectively, personnel are protected, and liaison with emergency services and key stakeholders is maintained in accordance with the Project Emergency Response Plan and Balfour Beatty emergency arrangements.

What you'll be doing

Emergency Command And Control

  • Support the bronze, silver and gold command personnel in responding to emergency situations, coordinating the site in response in line with the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Act as a point of contact for emergency services, providing accurate and timely information relating to:
  • Site access and layout
  • Hazards and risks
  • Personnel accountability
  • Liaise with clients, security providers and other external stakeholders as required during the emergency.

Incident Assessment And Risk Management

  • Undertake an initial and ongoing assessment of the incident, including hazards, risks and resource requirements.
  • Apply structured incident assessment methodologies (e.g. METHANE where defined) to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure responder safety is continually considered as conditions and risks evolve.

Coordination Of Emergency Roles

  • Direct and support Emergency Wardens, Fire Marshals, First Aiders and response teams.
  • Confirm that emergency roles are discharged effectively and that responsibilities are clearly understood.
  • Verify that site evacuation and personnel accountability processes are completed accurately

Communication And Control

  • Ensure that emergency procedures and instructions are communicated clearly to all relevant personnel.
  • Maintain effective communication with project management, HS&W, environmental advisors and client representatives throughout the incident.

    • Ability to remain calm, decisive and authoritative under pressure
    • Effective communication and leadership skills.
    • Training and experience appropriate to the level of emergency response responsibility
