Attendance at virtual meetings plus reading time 2-4 days per year
Description of Role
- To actively participate in the Decision Review Group (DRG) of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) to review the decisions of the Disciplinary Committee and the Charter Case Committee of the RCVS according to the Terms of Reference.
- To provide an independent view of the decisions that have been taken, and to provide external expertise and experience to the group.
- With the DRG, to identify areas for improvement or examples of best practice and recommend actions.
Key Responsibilities
- To understand and support the purpose and objectives of the DRG;
- To bring an independent perspective to the issues discussed;
- To attend meetings virtually as required up to two days per year;
- To fully prepare for meetings in advance, reading and assimilating the information provided in advance;
- To actively and constructively engage in discussions, provide insights and help to make informed decisions in accordance with the remit of the DRG;
- To communicate effectively with the members of DRG to enable efficient and effective discussion and decision making.
Skills and Knowledge required
- Extensive and recent experience of professional regulation is essential. Qualification as a solicitor or barrister is desirable, but not essential.
- In depth knowledge of regulatory disciplinary processes and regulatory frameworks
Remuneration
Full Day rate £366.00 and Half day rate £183.00
