Job Description

NOV is the global leader in the design and manufacturing of wireline products for slickline and electric line applications and is a subsidiary company of National Oilwell Varco Int. (NOV). Due to an increase in orders at our Kintore location, we are recruiting a Fabricator/Welder within our organisation. Working in our ferrous and nonferrous Fabrication shop’s utilising your technical knowledge and professional experience, you will contribute to the delivery of precision components for on and offshore applications. Acting under the guidance of your Cell Leader, the role requires knowledge of several welding processes, ability to read engineering drawings and work from work instructions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work to achieve high quality in the assembly and welding of component parts
  • Be proficient in the use of all welding equipment used in the Fabrication Shop
  • Work to weekly production schedule highlighting any key areas which may prevent achieving daily targets
  • Interpret weld procedures, engineering drawings from sketches, materials and electronic images identifying the most efficient, cost effective solution without compromising quality or safety
  • Follow recognised procedures for issuing and returning of welding consumables from the store
  • Notify the Fabrication Lead of any mistakes, omissions or alterations necessary to drawings or bills of material
  • Contribute to the development of systems and improvement in working practices and processes
  • Participate in resolving assembly and production issues
  • Report malfunctions to Cell Leader as needed
  • Conduct all material movements in accordance with the company’s safe working practices

Qualifications

  • Time served apprenticeship in fabrication and welding (Essential)
  • National Certificate (Desirable)

Experience

  • Experience working in a fabrication workshop (Essential)
  • Coded to 3G Welding (Desirable)

Skills, Training Or Special Knowledge

  • Ability to operate basic had tools (Essential)
  • Overhead crane and forklift licence (Desirable)

The successful candidate must be willing and able to work shifts and overtime as required
