Help shape a newly redesigned CAMHS inpatient service and ensure young people and their families remain at the centre of care, recovery and decision-making.
We are recruiting a Band 7 Family & Systemic Psychotherapist to join our newly redeveloped Children and Young People’s Mental Health Inpatient Unit reopening in Autumn 2026.
Following extensive co-design with young people, families and staff — alongside significant investment in the environment, workforce and therapeutic approach — this is an exciting opportunity to join a modern, recovery-focused inpatient service delivering purposeful, high-quality care to young people with acute mental health needs.

Who can apply
We're looking for:
• UKCP Registered Family & Systemic Psychotherapists
You'll ideally have:
• Experience working with children, young people and families experiencing significant mental health difficulties
• Strong assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention skills
• Experience working within multidisciplinary environments
• Confidence supporting families during periods of crisis and acute distress
• An interest in service development and improving outcomes for young people and families
The role
As a Band 7 Family & Systemic Psychotherapist, you'll play a key role in ensuring family relationships, experiences and strengths remain central throughout a young person's inpatient journey.
You will:
• Deliver specialist family and systemic assessments and interventions
• Support formulation and treatment planning within the MDT
• Work closely with families from admission through to discharge
• Contribute to care reviews and recovery planning
• Support young people and families experiencing acute mental health difficulties
• Work collaboratively with the COAST Crisis Outreach Team
• Provide consultation to colleagues and partner agencies
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
• Help embed family-focused and trauma-informed approaches across the service
