As a Mission Systems Field Service Engineer at Leonardo UK, you will directly support the delivery, sustainment, and operational readiness of cutting‑edge communication and mission systems used across UK and international defence platforms. You will provide technical expertise to customers at home and abroad, ensuring that our systems remain reliable, effective, and mission‑ready throughout their lifecycle.
You will work closely with Engineering, Programmes, Customer Support and In‑Service Support teams, acting as the front‑line technical representative for Leonardo’s Mission Systems portfolio. This role is based from Basildon with regular travel to customer sites, MoD establishments, trials locations, and deployed environments.

The team are looking for a driven individual capable of working independently as well as integrating into a close-knit team. The role would be split between Basildon and customer locations.

You will;
- Support product development and in-service support
- Have responsibility for Integration, test and acceptance
- Design support solutions including key documentation
- Provide field support at customer locations (UK and abroad)
- Remotely support deployed units
Key Experience and Skills
- Mission systems, including external and internal comms, secure voice and tactical networking
- Operator or maintainer experience
- Familiarity with the following
- IP networking and routing technology
- RF and Antenna systems
- Cryptographic devices and key management
- Message handling systems
- Diagnostics tools and electronic test equipment
- HNC or equivalent relevant experience
- Field service engineering work would often be expected to be off-site, requiring travel
- A full driving licence
- Due to the nature of our team, a full medical would be required for potential deployment to military platforms
- Advanced MS OFFICE skills essential, MS Word skills with advanced knowledge of styles and formatting, paragraph numbing, creation of linked pdfs. Good graphical skills using PowerPoint or Visio.

An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
