Divisional Finance Business Partner – English Language & OIPC

Job Purpose
To lead the finance function for the English Language and OIPC divisions within the OIET entity, during a period of ambitious growth. Take full ownership of month end processing, including preparation of monthly accounts (P/L, B/S, C/F and KPIs). The role is also responsible for the preparation of a detailed annual budget and regular reforecasts. Additionally, the role will identify opportunities to simplify / improve workflow processes and act as a business partner to provide commercial insights to the divisional MD to drive growth and business performance as well as optimise cash conversion. The role also includes line management of the divisional team.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Manage processing of all transactions for OIET including purchase ledger, sales ledger (via integration from Intrinsiq)
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of all purchase invoices, recharges and payments
- Drive and coordinate month end closing, ensuring timely and accurate close
- Delivery and review of OIET’s monthly management accounts, including variance analysis to budget/forecast, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Preparation of monthly commentary/financial reports for all departments
- Produce summary P&L reports for monthly board packs
- Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly
- Produce weekly cashflow report for OIET entity
- Responsible for maintaining the fixed asset register the English Language and OIPC divisions
- Review performance against KPIs (financial and operational)
- Lead audit process for OIET – prepare audit packs and liaise with auditors as required
- Monitoring of VAT threshold and register if reached
- Lead debtors reporting for the division, working with admissions to facilitate cash collection and minimise bad debts
Team Management
- Provide line management to all OIET finance staff, including appraisals, performance reviews, annual leave.
- Delegate tasks, setting realistic deadlines and coaching as required
- Liaise and escalate issues as required with Group Financial Controller / Group Finance Director
Other Duties
- Provide input to commercial proposals
- Identify opportunities to simplify / improve processes and systems as required
- Produce and maintain finance procedure documents
- Assist with review of OIET contracts and any related projects including training of all summer centre managers
- Liaise with internal IT team and INQ (CRM provider) to ensure all reports function accordingly and help to fix any issues arising
- Liaise with and co-ordinate with colleagues from relevant departments to ensure that Power BI dashboards reflect true business performance and accurate tracking
- Visit colleges in person as required throughout the year (minimum once per quarter)
Person Specification
Statutory requirements
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
- Willingness to undergo a DBS check or overseas equivalent
Qualifications
- A-levels or equivalent
Experience and knowledge
- Strong Management Accounts, forecasting and Statutory Accounts experience
- Experience of maintaining financial models using Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, SUMIFs and Macros if possible)
- Experience of preparing for external audit
- Experience of managing a team
- Experience of Sage (Desirable)
- Experience of education sector (Desirable)
