Finance Systems Accountant required for a large UK organisation operating in a complex, high-volume environment
(Hybrid – Hampshire based, 3 days a week in the office)
£70,000 – £80,000 + car allowance and performance bonus, depending on experience
An established UK organisation is seeking a Finance Systems Accountant to join its central finance function.
As part of an ongoing focus on finance systems optimisation, automation and operational efficiency, this role will sit at the intersection of Finance and IT. You will take ownership of finance systems processes, support critical month-end and operational accounting activities, and lead initiatives that improve financial controls, automation and reporting capability.
This position will play a key role in shaping the finance systems roadmap, ensuring accounting processes are robust, scalable and aligned with wider business objectives. The role will also involve leading a small team and partnering closely with finance leadership and IT stakeholders to deliver change and continuous improvement.
You’ll be joining a collaborative finance environment where systems improvement and operational excellence are a key strategic focus.
Key Requirements:
• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Strong experience working with SAP finance systems
• Systems accounting or finance transformation experience within a large organisation
• Good understanding of end-to-end finance processes (P2P, RTR, OTC)
• Experience leading finance systems or process improvement initiatives
• Ability to bridge the gap between Finance and IT teams
• Previous experience managing or mentoring team members preferred
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and drive improvements
• Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the primary liaison between Finance and IT for finance systems and process improvements
• Lead initiatives to automate manual processes and strengthen financial controls
• Oversee key month-end accounting activities and ensure financial integrity across systems
• Manage reconciliations, error resolution and financial data verification processes
• Maintain oversight of finance systems processes and ensure appropriate governance is in place
• Identify and prioritise finance change initiatives and develop supporting business cases
• Support requirements gathering, testing and implementation of finance system changes
• Monitor service performance and collaborate with IT to ensure systems meet finance requirements
• Lead and develop a small team within the finance systems function
• Support audit requests, reporting requirements and control verification activities
