Group Financial Controller – High-Growth Fintech Lender (Birmingham – Hybrid 2-3 Days Onsite)

Salary: £120,000 + discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid: 2–3 days onsite)

A fast-growing UK-based Fintech lender specialising in residential Buy-to-Let, bridging loans, and real estate financing is seeking a Group Financial Controller to join its senior finance leadership team. This is a hands-on role with full ownership of financial reporting, controls, and regulatory compliance, supporting a business poised for strong growth.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a central role in ensuring robust financial governance, overseeing loan book accounting, treasury, and consolidation across multiple entities, including SPVs. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and wants to shape the financial strategy of a dynamic, high-growth business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting under FRS102/IFRS.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, policies, and procedures are maintained and continuously improved.
  • Oversee accounting for the loan book, including bridging, Buy-to-Let, and mortgage portfolios, and securitised structures.
  • Manage accounting and consolidation of all entities, including SPVs.
  • Support treasury and liquidity reporting, ensuring sufficient cash flow for lending and operations.
  • Assist the CFO with funding line compliance, covenant monitoring, and securitisation reporting.
  • Oversee preparation of regulatory returns for relevant authorities.
  • Develop and maintain advanced Excel financial models for reporting, forecasting, and stress testing.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisers, and legal counsel as required.
  • Mentor and develop junior finance team members, promoting a culture of accountability and excellence.

  • Key Requirements

    • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with 10+ years post-qualified experience.
    • Strong technical accounting expertise, including IFRS, loan book accounting, and structured finance.
    • Proven experience in a lending environment – bridging finance, mortgages, and Buy-to-Let essential; Sharia-compliant products a plus.
  • Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills; capable of building complex models from scratch.
  • Strong regulatory knowledge (FCA reporting, securitisation, SPVs).
  • Experience managing finance teams and implementing strong control environments.
  • Commercially minded, detail-oriented, and able to communicate complex financial topics clearly.
  • Self-starter comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • What's on offer?

    • Opportunity to shape the financial strategy of a high-growth Fintech lender.
    • Exposure to complex funding structures and capital markets.
    • Dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with excellent learning and career progression opportunities.
    • Competitive salary, discretionary bonus, and benefits package.
