Our innovative and sustainable additives improve scratch resistance and surface gloss, the mechanical strength or flow behavior of materials, and properties such as UV- and light stability or flame retardancy. We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Laboratory Technician to join the technical team at BYK Additives in Widnes on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to provide maternity cover.
You will work as part of the technical team at BYK Widnes working flexibly across the technical department as required to meet the needs of the business.
Responsible for laboratory-based tasks, which include sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analysing results. Adherence to laboratory procedures and health and safety guidelines.
You may be asked to work such hours outside normal hours of employment and at weekends as the company considers necessary to meet the needs of the business.
You will work as part of the technical team at BYK Widnes working flexibly across the technical department as required to meet the needs of the business.

- Prepare and analyse samples following strict methodologies to produce reliable and precise data
Required / Essential Qualifications, Experience And Attributes
- Minimum HNC in Chemistry or equivalent
- Competence with Microsoft office, and optionally basic SAP
- Willingness to learn
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good team working skills
- Capable of logical and analytical thinking
- Attention to detail and good organisation skills
