Applications are invited for a General Practitioner with a specialist interest in Paediatrics Sexual Assault Referrals for up to 2 sessions. This is a permanent post commencing as soon as possible and is based within the Swansea regional SARC hub at Unit 3 Langdon House, Langdon Rd SA1.
The service will provide historic and acute sexual assault medicals for children. Clients may access a range of support depending on when they present, and what their needs entail. The Welsh Regional Sexual Assault service will see children up to their 14th birthday who have experienced an acute Sexual assault, or where there are concerns a child may have experienced an acute sexual assault, are seen jointly with a Forensic Medical Examiner (contracted by police) and a Paediatrician. The role of the paediatrician or General Practitioner with specialist interest in SARC is to support the FME in the holistic assessment of child and provide a safeguarding medical report. The FME is responsible for taking appropriate forensic samples for the police. It is recognised that the paediatric competencies can be met by a clinician from specialities outside of paediatrics, as per quality standards set out below.
