Job Description

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer within the Power Distribution Group, you will contribute to a variety of projects and tasks that apply your technical knowledge while developing your skills and experience. As part of the 20% allocated for training and development, you will follow a core programme designed to build your professional and business capabilities, with flexible elements tailored to your personal development needs and the requirements of your role.

Your core responsibilities:

  • Carry out electrical and electronic design, build, and test activities across UKAEA programmes.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure electronic systems are demonstrably safe through hardware and software review and analysis.
  • Contribute to the design, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of ELV, LV, and HV electrical systems.
  • Support development involving HDL and embedded C software where appropriate.
  • Perform fault-finding and troubleshooting on electronic and electrical systems.
  • Participate in technical studies and produce clear, robust supporting documentation.
  • Gain experience in simulation modelling and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science or Engineering from 2025 or '26
  • Confident with all Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Driven, with a strong appetite to learn and take on new challenges
  • Able to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Well organised and adaptable with the ability to plan and prioritise workload
