Description
Job Description Summary

The GridOS Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering GE Vernova’s Plan solutions for network operators. In this hands-on technical engineering role, you will deploy, configure, and validate Kubernetes-based components, helping customers enhance the reliability, visibility, and operational performance of their grid systems. You will collaborate directly with customer engineering, IT, and business application teams, as well as internal product stakeholders, to ensure accurate asset modelling, robust data ingestion, and stable production operation of the delivered solutions. This role combines systems deployment, integration engineering, and grid-domain knowledge to accelerate the energy transition

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and validate GE Vernova's GridOS Plan solutions using Kubernetes, Helm charts, and containerized services.

  • Execute end-to-end deployments across customer environments, including on-premise, hybrid, or cloud infrastructure, on Linux- and Windows-based platforms.

  • Troubleshoot container execution, Helm configuration, networking, and platform service issues.

  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure and business application teams to guide and advise on complex deployments, including environments with limited Kubernetes expertise.

  • Partner with customer EMS/ADMS, planning, or modelling teams to ensure alignment between source models and operational requirements.

  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues involving telemetry, GIS, weather, asset metadata, or operational datasets.

  • Implement, test, and validate integrations between software systems using service-oriented and event-driven architectures (REST APIs, messaging buses, middleware, file-based exchanges).

  • Design and develop data workflows using modern programming languages (e.g., Kotlin, Python, or Java) to support secure, scalable, and maintainable data exchanges.

  • Configure and verify data ingestion pipelines, ensuring accurate mapping of GIS, telemetry, and asset datasets.

  • Work with internal teams to optimize workflow performance, handle transformations, and support operational monitoring.

  • Capture, document, and translate customer requirements into clear engineering specifications and integration mappings.

  • Guide customers toward out-of-the-box product capabilities while identifying where customization may be required.

  • Provide concise progress updates and issue descriptions to both internal and customer leadership teams to ensure timely assignment of resources.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation for deployments, data flows, interface mappings, and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Contribute to enhancements in deployment automation, Helm templates, monitoring configurations, and standardized implementation patterns.

  • Support CI/CD practices for container updates, test automation, and environment promotion when applicable.

  • Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.

    • At least 1 year of hands-on experience installing, deploying, and debugging Kubernetes workloads, Helm charts, and related open-source software on Linux systems.

    • Strong collaboration and communication skills for guiding and advising IT infrastructure and business application teams through complex software installations, including environments with limited Kubernetes experience.

  • Experience integrating systems through REST APIs, microservices, or message-based interfaces.

  • Comfort with Linux command-line tools, container diagnostics, logs, and metrics.

  • Desired Qualifications

    • Experience developing and maintaining integrations or workflows using modern programming languages (e.g., Kotlin, Python, or Java).

    • Familiarity with GIS datasets, asset management systems, or data validation workflows.

    • General subject matter knowledge of utility energy management systems (EMS/SCADA) and network equipment modelling.

    • Exposure to CI/CD technologies and pipelines such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or ArgoCD.

    • Background in power system modeling, grid analytics, or related energy industry software.

    • Experience containerizing applications or data ingestion workflows for Linux or Windows environments.

    • Knowledge of Continuous Integration / Continuous Development best practices.

    • Experience integrating systems via Service-Oriented Architectures (REST APIs, microservices, messaging).
