THE SEARCH:
DRAX Executive have been retained by a £400m revenue Private Equity Backed Construction Group to secure a Group Financial Controller based at their Wakefield HQ.
With plans to exit within the next 2-3 years, this is a critical hire that will drive key finance transformation initiatives and efficiency across the business, whilst ensuring the consistent delivery and accuracy of financial reporting.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will work in close collaboration with the Senior Finance Leadership team and Senior Non-Finance stakeholders providing key value across the business.
You will be a ‘hands on’ and proven Group Financial Controller with demonstrable experience of overseeing Group Controls, Tax and Technical Accounting, in addition to finance transformation initiatives.
THE ROLE:
The Group Financial Controller will be a key partner to the CFO and have full autonomy to drive key transformation initiatives across financial controls, financial reporting and ERP utilisation, in addition to the smooth running of the day-to-day accounting function.
You will be a visible leader in the Wakefield Office with an expectation of circa 3-4 days in the office.
Key responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead the full Controls function, ensuring month end and statutory reporting deadlines are met.
- Leading external audit process and statutory accounting.
- Effectively integrating newly acquired businesses into the group.
- Ongoing review of internal processes and implementing relevant efficiencies.
- Drive the ongoing utilisation of the ERP system, ensuring efficiency across the finance function and transitioning out of manual processes.
- Proving technical accounting support to the wider business when required.
- Develop a high performing finance team with the ability to continuously up-skill, coach, and mentor team members
THE REQUIREMENTS:
- Qualified Accountant
- Proven Group Controllership experience (including remit for Tax and Technical Accounting).
- Worked within a mid-large cap business (circa £200m plus)
- Relevant Finance Transformation exposure.
- A track record of developing high performing teams and processes.
- Be a visible leader within the Wakefield Office.
