Group Financial Controller

Are you a commercially minded finance leader ready to play a pivotal role in a fast-growing, market-leading leisure business?
We are partnering with an ambitious and highly successful leisure group to appoint a Group Financial Controller to join their senior finance leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of the financial control environment across a dynamic multi-site organisation while also overseeing Tax and Treasury at group level.

As Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in strengthening financial governance, driving best-in-class reporting, and supporting the strategic ambitions of the organisation.
The Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Group Financial Controller will lead the group financial control function and ensure the delivery of high-quality financial reporting, compliance, and robust processes across the business.
You will also take ownership of Group Tax and Treasury, ensuring efficient cash management, strong banking relationships, and an optimised tax strategy.
This is a highly visible leadership role that will work closely with the executive team and key stakeholders across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
- Lead the Group financial control function across a multi-entity leisure business
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
- Oversee the group consolidation process and statutory reporting requirements
- Lead the preparation and delivery of year-end accounts and audit processes
- Ensure robust financial controls, policies and governance frameworks
- Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and systems
Tax
- Ownership of the Group tax strategy and compliance framework
- Manage corporate tax, VAT and other indirect tax obligations
- Work with external advisors on tax planning, structuring and regulatory matters
Treasury
- Lead group cash flow management, forecasting and liquidity planning
- Manage banking relationships and funding facilities
- Oversee treasury operations including cash pooling, controls and reporting
- Support financing activities and strategic investment initiatives
Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team
- Partner with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making
- Contribute to key projects including acquisitions, integrations and systems improvements
Key Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA) practice trained
- Significant experience in financial control within a multi-entity group
- Strong experience across Group Reporting, Tax and Treasury
- Track record of improving processes, controls and finance infrastructure
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and develop high-performing teams
