The Client

Harmonic is delighted to be working on a rare opportunity to join a venture-backed infrastructure business at the heart of the UK’s energy transition, with contracted revenues stretching over the next decade and a clear mandate to scale.

The group operates across regulated electricity networks and next-generation energy infrastructure, is fully backed by a major renewable energy owner, and has over £100m of secured projects scheduled for delivery. Despite the scale and backing, the business remains deliberately lean, entrepreneurial, and is now investing heavily in building a best-in-class finance function.

The Role

As Group Financial Controller, you will take ownership of financial reporting, controls, and operational finance across the group, reporting directly into the CFO.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone stepping into their first Financial Controller position, or early in their FC journey, who knows what good looks like and wants the opportunity to build it properly. You will inherit a small but capable team, with a clear remit to professionalise, tighten controls, and create confidence in the numbers as the business scales.

Alongside getting the core right, you will play a key role in supporting acquisitions, investor reporting, and helping the wider business understand the story behind the numbers.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close, group reporting, and balance sheet integrity across multiple entities
• Lead financial reporting, controls, and operational finance teams
• Shorten and strengthen the month-end close, embedding robust balance sheet reconciliations
• Drive cash forecasting, treasury, and capital drawdown processes
• Implement and improve systems and processes, including P2P, expenses, and payments
• Prepare high-quality reporting for the Board, shareholders, and investors
• Oversee AP, AR, and day-to-day financial operations
• Support acquisition accounting, onboarding, and integration of new entities
• Act as a trusted finance partner across the business, translating numbers into clear narrative and insight
• Management of a team of 3-4 professionals

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• ACA qualified, or equivalent
• Trained in a strong technical accounting environment, ideally Top 10 audit
• Strong balance sheet mindset, comfortable standing behind the numbers
• Experience owning month-end, reporting, and controls in a multi-entity environment
• Clear communicator, able to distil detail into insight and narrative
• High ownership mentality, proactive, curious, and not defensive

Desirable

• 0–2 years’ experience in a Financial Controller role, or a clear step-up from Senior Manager
• Exposure to regulated, infrastructure, energy, or capital-intensive environments
• Experience with investor reporting or working alongside PE or long-term infrastructure funds
• Involvement in acquisitions or entity set-up
• Familiarity with Xero and modern P2P or expense platforms

Salary: £85,000 - £95,000 + benefits

Location: Hybrid, Milton Keynes and Central London offices, remote-first, no mandated days
