The Role
Responsible for assisting the Group Head of Internal Audit in delivering a rolling, risk‑based audit programme and associated reporting, ensuring the Audit Committee, ExCo and SLT have an accurate and current view of MAG’s risk and control framework. This includes deputising for the Head of Internal Audit when required. The role also manages up to four Internal Audit team members to deliver audits on time and to the required standards in line with Global Internal Audit Standards, producing high‑quality, value‑adding reports for ExCo and SLT. As Internal Audit Manager for Technology and Data, you will use your technology audit experience, data analytics expertise and professional audit qualification to develop and manage the audit and assurance programme for all aspects of technology and information security, with a strong focus on cyber and information security legislation, controls and best practice.
A key part of the role is to lead, develop and embed a Technology and Data Strategy for the Internal Audit function, ensuring alignment with the wider Group Internal Audit Strategy and Internal Audit Standards. You will support the Head of Internal Audit in producing high‑quality Board packs for Airport/Divisional Boards, CEO/ExCo/SLT meetings and the Audit Committee, while also contributing to continuous improvement across the Internal Audit team and supporting External Quality Assurance Assessments. In addition to managing audit staff, you may also lead high‑profile audits, undertake specialised audit work, or support relevant investigations.
What will make you successful in this role?
You will be a qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA), Internal Audit professional (CIIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor with significant post‑qualification experience, including a minimum of one year in an audit management position. You’ll be a subject‑matter expert with strong technical knowledge of internal audit and its application within IT, able to support colleagues across both audit and risk functions. You’ll be an effective communicator capable of building credibility and influencing colleagues at all levels, from operational teams to SLT and ExCo, while driving meaningful improvements in processes and controls.
You’ll have experience in auditing technology compliance, IT strategy and major technology change programmes, as well as the ability to deliver impactful presentations to senior stakeholders and governance forums. You’ll demonstrate strong influencing skills, produce high‑quality and insightful reports, and work effectively under pressure while setting high standards for themselves and their team. You will be a visible, approachable leader with strong delegation skills, committed to continuous professional development and capable of motivating others to achieve departmental objectives. Experience with data analytics tools is also desirable.
