Group Tax Manager

JSS Tax are hiring for a Group Tax Manager for a leading scientific organisation based in Surrey (supporting 3 days per week remote working)

The position comes with a salary of circa £75k-£90k plus benefits package

Reporting to the Head of Tax, the Group Tax Manager will take on a varied role focusing on corporate taxes but supporting on other areas such as VAT.

The role has a healthy mix of tax advisory, tax compliance, business partnering and project work.

Responsibilities include:

Tax Planning

• Execution of the Group’s tax strategy, aligned with overall business objectives.
• Design, implement, document, and manage transfer pricing policies, including intercompany funding arrangements.
• Advise senior leadership on the tax implications of business decisions, restructurings, and M&A transactions.
• Identify and deliver tax efficiency opportunities while maintaining strong compliance and risk management standards.
• Monitor global tax legislation and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the Group.

Tax Compliance and Reporting

• Prepare year-end current and deferred tax provisions and related disclosures under IFRS, liaising with internal teams and external auditors.
• Prepare UK and US corporation tax computations and coordinate with external advisors to finalize and submit tax returns.
• Manage UK and US tax instalments and payments on account.
• Oversee VAT compliance for Head Office entities and review VAT compliance across UK operations.
• Manage all Group transfer pricing reporting, including annual updates to transfer pricing documentation.
• Oversee tax compliance processes across all other jurisdictions, working closely with local and centralized finance teams.
• Prepare detailed analyses and manage the end-to-end process for the Group’s R&D tax credit claims.

Risk Management and Governance

• Establish and maintain robust tax governance frameworks and internal controls across the Group.
• Identify, assess, and manage tax risks, providing proactive mitigation strategies.
• Ensure appropriate documentation and audit trails support all material tax positions.
