About The Role
The Head of Editorial Performance is responsible for developing and driving initiatives in support of driving operational excellence across the Nature Portfolio. In this role you will be working with key stakeholders across the Nature Portfolio editorial teams as well as Peer Review Management, Content Acquisition Product team, Publishing Strategy, Publishing Performance & Intelligence, Production, Publishing Operations, and others, to plan and implement improvements to editorial workflows and processes, and drive the adoption of best working practices, to support increased editorial efficiency and best-in-class author experience.
An immediate priority for the role-holder will be to take on a leading role in delivering an ambitious ongoing project to transform Nature Portfolio’s editorial workflows. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in shaping efficient and scalable future-ready workflows.
Responsibilities
Lead initiatives to improve and standardise editorial workflows across Nature Portfolio.
Analyse current processes, identify improvement opportunities, and design scalable solutions.
Deliver change projects from planning through implementation, including milestones, risks, dependencies and success measures.
Drive adoption of new workflows, technologies and platforms across editorial teams.
Partner with stakeholders across editorial, product, operations, production and analytics teams to deliver effective change.
Use data and KPIs to track impact, measure success and support continuous improvement.
Support the development of best practices and portfolio-wide approaches to editorial processes.
Contribute to initiatives that improve author experience and operational efficiency.
Essential
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Good understanding of editorial workflows and the research publishing landscape.
Strong experience leading complex projects and change initiatives in cross-functional environments.
Experience supporting the adoption of new processes, systems or technologies.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a data-informed approach.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.
Ability to influence, build trust and work effectively across a wide range of teams and senior stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and deliver against deadlines.
Proactive, self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
Degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Desirable
Project management qualification or formal training.
