Job Summary
This is a new and key role leading knowledge and information management for the newly established Building Safety Regulator. As an independent UK regulator, BSR collects, processes, and produces a significant volume of information to support its regulatory functions and protect public safety. to ensure the safety of the public in and around buildings. We have legal obligations to ensure that we are managing this information in accordance with our statutory obligations and that we are both accountable and transparent in our decision making.
The postholder will be establish and lead the Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) corporate function. This will require building a new KIM Team and establishing and shaping new frameworks to ensure compliance with UK information laws, including the Public Records Acts, Freedom of Information, and Data Protection laws.
The role will act as the organisation’s statutory Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Departmental Records Officer (DRO) which requires effective working with key external bodies such as The National Archives and the Information Commissioner’s Office. The role will set strategic direction for BSR on how it delivers compliant, proportionate information governance across its information estate and will provide independent assurance to BSR’s management board on compliance and information risk.
This is an exciting opportunity to form and shape information governance in a new and important organisation, embedding good practice from day one and supporting transparency, trust and effective decision-making.

Part time working hours are available for this role. We can accept part time applicants who can commit to working a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Essential Skills And Criteria
- Significant and demonstrable senior-level experience in data protection, information governance or knowledge and information management
There will be a requirement to travel to the office for various activities, e.g., collaborative working, supporting and training colleagues. If hybrid working is suitable for you and your role, you will be expected to attend the office, or other business-related site, for 60% of your working week. The arrangements will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account.
