We’re now looking for an experienced Head of Management Accounts to lead our Management Accounts team (c. 14 FTE) within the UK Controllership function. This senior role reports to the UK Financial Controller and is accountable for the monthly financial reporting across all Maximus UK entities and plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth and effective running of the finance function.


As a strategic leader, you will drive process standardisation, data quality improvements, and the adoption of technology to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency. You’ll foster a collaborative, high‑performing culture across multiple business areas, bringing strong leadership and a continuous improvement mindset.


This is a hybrid role, with around 1 day per week on-site in Leicester, plus occasional travel to other UK locations.



Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the Management Accounts function, overseeing the full month‑end close to deliver accurate, timely reporting
  • Produce performance and variance analysis, offering strategic insights to support data‑driven decision‑making
  • Manage the consolidation of the UK P&L for Group reporting
  • Oversee balance sheet reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SOX and internal controls
  • Design, enhance and standardise processes, driving efficiency through automation and continuous improvement
  • Line manage and mentor three Senior Management Accountants and coordinate the wider team
  • Support annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting cycles
  • Support statutory year‑end audits, internal controls and SOX activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:


  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with extensive experience leading a management accounts team
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience guiding teams through organisational change
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with Power Platform tools (including M code and Power BI)
  • Excellent ERP knowledge
  • Previous US GAAP and SOX experience, including ASC 606


Desirable:


  • Experience in public sector or outsourced business services
  • Familiarity with SAP ByDesign
  • Experience working within a matrix organisation.

Travel Requirements
