Head of Operational Management: Undergraduate Education

The Medical Education department at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and skilledmanager who will be accountable for providing senior operational management for undergraduate medical education across the Trust.

The post holder will ensure the effective delivery, governance, and continuous improvement of undergraduate education programmes, aligned with GMC, NHS England, and Imperial School of Medicine requirements.

The role provides essential senior operational oversight, including responsibility for performance, quality assurance, data management, student experience monitoring, financial control, and day-to-day delivery, supporting the Trust's planned expansion in undergraduate medical placements.

The post holder will lead and manage the medical education team, including the line management of a multi-professional team, as well as senior management oversight of a cohort of education fellows.

The role requires an experienced, outcomes-focused senior manager with strong leadership, business, and management skills, a working knowledge of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, and the ability to build effective, collaborative relationships with clinicians, professional leads, and external partners, including Imperial School of Medicine and NHS England.

Essential

• First degree or equivalent level of experience in a relevant field (e.g. healthcare management, education, leadership)

Desirable

• Formal qualification in medical or healthcare education Project or programme management qualification

Experience

Essential

• Significant senior management experience within healthcare, education, or a complex public sector organisation
• Experience of operational management, including oversight of multiple services or programmes
• Experience of education governance, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance
• Experience of managing and developing staff, including performance management and workforce planning
• Experience of reporting performance data to senior management, committees, or Board level
• Experience of working with senior clinicians and multidisciplinary stakeholders

Desirable

• Experience within undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical education
• Experience working with NHS England, GMC, or university partners
