In June 2025, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care introduced two key frameworks: the Population Health Framework and the Service Renewal Framework (SRF). The SRF sets out an ambitious vision to drive innovation and enable more integrated delivery across Scotland’s health and care services. As part of this transformation, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) will come together to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland in April 2026. The new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland. The Post
This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive support to donors throughout the blood donation process, including reception, health screening, blood sample collection, blood donation, and ensuring donor safety and wellbeing. Responsibilities also include setting up community donation sessions, which may involve manually handling equipment cages or trolleys weighing up to 60kg with the assistance of two individuals, without mechanical aid. Comprehensive training will be provided for all aspects of the role. The role is part of the Donor Services Blood Collection Team based in Glasgow and requires extensive travel across the West of Scotland. Flexibility and a willingness to work variable hours are essential, as the schedule may include public holidays, Sundays, and regular late evening shifts.

The Candidate
We are seeking a donor carer venepuncturist to join our team, providing high-quality care to donors. Candidates should be friendly, team-oriented, and enjoy meeting people. Requirements include Higher level education and experience in care or customer service, strong written and verbal communication, proficient keyboard skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively. Candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, remain calm under pressure, follow procedures, and be meticulous, motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
