Heritage Project Officer

Fixed term contract till July 2028

Merton Heritage Service is seeking an enthusiastic Project Officer to develop the heritage component of “Merton United,” our borough’s Cultural Impact Award.

As Project Officer you will be responsible for supervising a team of volunteers and coordinating a range of project activity including community plaque schemes, heritage collection days, research and design of town centre/public realm displays, and web resources. Developing strong partnerships with local shops, businesses, schools, community and heritage organisations, you will work alongside the Project Manager, to support the delivery of public events, exhibitions and educational resources. You will assist with commissioning work to highlight Merton’s multicultural heritage, in addition to budget monitoring, project reporting and evaluation.

This is an ideal opportunity for applicants with experience of delivering projects and events to a deadline and within budget. The successful applicant will have excellent I.T, communication and organisational skills. Experience of the UK heritage industry, community outreach and work on collaborative projects is highly desirable.

Merton United is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to devise a multi-fa
ceted project, designed to place new/under-represented communities at the heart of Merton’s story.
