We are currently partnering with a reputable charity organisation in Northamptonshire, who are recruiting for a Housing Advisor to join their growing team on a permanent basis.
This is a full-time position with a salary of £28,000, offering one to two days working from home.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Delivering high-quality, independent advice to clients at risk of homelessness, including those facing eviction, across multiple service sites
- Challenging homelessness decisions under the Housing Act 1996 (e.g., Sections 184, 188, 202), and advocating for vulnerable individuals
- Managing a personal caseload, keeping detailed records and setting outcomes in line with AQS standards and SMART principles
- Supporting clients with housing applications, as well as benefits and debt advice linked to housing issues
- Liaising with external agencies, solicitors, and local authorities to coordinate support and sustain tenancies
- Referring and signposting clients to internal and external services to address wider support needs
- Promoting income maximisation through advice on welfare benefits, debt, and budgeting strategies
- Contributing to service monitoring and reporting by maintaining accurate records and preparing casework data
- Collaborating with colleagues and the Advice Services Manager to meet performance targets and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards
Experience required:
- Experience within housing/homelessness services, advice services or anti-poverty services
- Experience and skills in the delivery of support services for hard to reach/vulnerable adults
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
- Knowledge of issues which affect disadvantaged adults
- Knowledge and experience of challenging homelessness, unemployment and poverty
- Extensive knowledge of homelessness legislation and case law with a track record of successful challenges
- Knowledge and abilities in using Microsoft Office packages
Working hours:
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (flex)
