Job Role: 3rd Line Support Engineer
Location: Peterborough/Hybrid
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
If you're the person everyone turns to when things get tricky, the firewall won’t behave, the migration’s wobbling, the network’s doing something strange then this is probably your kind of role.
We’re looking for a solid 3rd line engineer. Someone comfortable being the final escalation point. Someone who’s led migrations before. Someone who understands SMB networks inside out, not just in theory, but in the real world.
What you’ll be doing:
- Handling the complex stuff that can’t be fixed at 1st or 2nd line
- Leading Microsoft 365 and Azure migrations
- Configuring and troubleshooting WatchGuard firewalls
- Working across VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi deployments, routing, switching
- Supporting and improving Windows Server environments
- Delivering upgrades, rebuilds and infrastructure projects
- Talking directly to clients (and explaining things in plain English)
- Supporting junior engineers when they need help
The tech stack:
You’ll be hands-on with:
- Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune, Autopilot)
- Azure (IaaS, AVD, Hybrid Join)
- Windows Server, AD, Group Policy
- Hyper-V
- Veeam
- WatchGuard firewalls
- RMM tools (N-Able or similar)
What we’re really looking for:
- 5+ years in IT support
- Solid experience in a true 3rd line or infrastructure-focused role
- Strong WatchGuard firewall experience
- Confident delivering system migrations
- A strong grasp of SMB networking and troubleshooting
- MSP experience — you’re used to juggling priorities
- Comfortable speaking to clients at all level
