Interim Assignment | Health & Care System Transformation


A major health and care system is seeking an experienced programme delivery leader to take on a pivotal role within a high-profile financial recovery and improvement programme.


This is a hands-on leadership assignment focused on restoring financial sustainability while driving operational improvement across multiple services. You will lead the programme delivery function, ensuring that complex transformation initiatives translate into real, measurable financial and operational outcomes.


Working closely with executive leadership, you’ll provide the structure, pace and oversight needed to keep a large-scale recovery programme firmly on track.


The Opportunity

This role will see you leading a multidisciplinary programme delivery team, providing the governance, coordination and challenge required to deliver a portfolio of cost improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.


You will play a central role in ensuring that transformation plans move beyond strategy and are delivered effectively on the ground.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a Programme Management Delivery Team, including programme and analytical specialists
  • Provide oversight and coordination of a major financial recovery programme spanning multiple operational workstreams
  • Establish strong programme governance, reporting and delivery controls
  • Track and validate financial benefits, ensuring improvement initiatives deliver measurable impact
  • Identify delivery risks, remove operational barriers and accelerate programme progress
  • Support operational and clinical leaders to drive improvement across areas such as workforce, productivity, procurement and patient flow
  • Produce clear programme reporting and progress updates for executive leadership
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships to support sustainable change and system-wide engagement


About You

You will be a seasoned healthcare transformation leader

with experience delivering large-scale financial recovery or cost improvement programmes.

You’ll bring the ability to combine strategic programme oversight with hands-on delivery leadership, ensuring that improvement initiatives move from concept to implementation.

Your background is likely to include:

  • Senior programme leadership within complex NHS or healthcare environments
  • Experience delivering financial turnaround or cost improvement programmes
  • Strong PMO / programme governance expertise
  • The ability to translate operational improvements into tangible financial outcomes
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary delivery teams across complex stakeholder landscapes
  • A collaborative leadership style with strong influencing and change management skills
