Overview
We are seeking a Risk & Assurance professional to support a public sector client. This role will be to assess and strengthen the client’s risk and assurance frameworks, provide a diagnostic, and deliver a programme of improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a rapid assessment of the current risk management and assurance frameworks, identifying gaps, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop a prioritised and sequenced programme of improvement activities, establishing a regular rhythm of risk and assurance enhancements.
- Engage closely with the client to instill confidence, provide expert guidance, and support better decision-making and outcomes.
- Operate at a senior level to deliver BAU oversight while also supporting transformational change.
- Collaborate with leadership, using insights to guide improvements while respecting tight oversight.
The Successful Candidate
- Head of Risk & Assurance experience; able to operate at a senior level.
- Demonstrated experience in running BAU risk and assurance functions and identifying weaknesses in practice.
- Strong track record of driving improvements and engaging the wider organisation.
- Extensive advisory experience in risk and assurance frameworks.
- Experience in embedding better decision-making practices across organisations.
- 10+ years of experience in risk management and assurance.
- Experience in complex or politically sensitive environments preferred (public sector experience helpful but not essential).
- Strong communication and engagement skills to influence senior stakeholders.
