About The Team And The Role
This is a critical role within the commercial team, and a clear path to a commercial leadership role. The role is responsible for ensuring that Ocado Retail achieves the correct value proposition in order to meet our growth ambitions and commercial targets. This combines the delivery of both long-term strategic initiatives and tactical activity.
What You’ll Do
Price and promotions management:
- Developing processes and frameworks to ensure governance of price and promotional decision making throughout the commercial function, maintaining a customer-first approach alongside maximising commercial outcomes.
- Keeping abreast of market conditions and competitor activity that may impact the strength of Ocado Retail’s proposition – being an expert and ambassador of data-led grocery pricing and promotions optimisation.
- Monitoring and analysing performance of pricing strategies, fostering an environment of learning, continuous listening and actioning insight.
Implementation of our value strategy:
- Structuring, developing and driving the cross-functional implementation of critical commercial pricing and promotions projects.
- Guiding value investments to deliver optimal outcomes for customers via pricing and promotional activity.
- Being a leading contributor to the future roadmap and value strategy for Ocado Retail, analysing and making recommendations to Senior Leadership and Board of Directors.
Leadership:
- Leadership and mentorship of a multidisciplinary team of 5, setting team objectives to deliver against KPIs and responsibility for optimisation and prioritisation.
- Building and maintaining close working relationships with stakeholders and peers across Ocado Retail and proactively identifying and solving intra-departmental issues.
Who You Are
- Experience in commercial leadership, buying, management consulting or retail strategy roles. Experience of pricing and promotions is an advantage.
- Proven experience leading projects, taking ownership and delivering strong customer and commercial outcomes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of structuring and analysing complex problems.
- A champion of data-led approaches, comfortable with analytics and able to drive data projects and modelling.
- Ability to spot commercial opportunities whilst driving customer outcomes.
- Comfortable leading teams through change and operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders across several functions and seniority levels with the ability to influence at all levels and build strong trusted relationships.
