Our central business functions are located in an easily accessible, bright and modern head office to the west of Lincoln, alongside our mission systems team, while the majority of our operational specialists are embedded alongside our Defence customers.

THE ROLE

Our award-winning Mission Systems Team deliver advanced aviation IT systems from our office in Lincoln to customers around the world. As a result of our continued success and business expansion, we are delighted to offer a Junior Technical Author opportunity to support the development and delivery of our bespoke IT products.

As a Junior Technical Author, you will be responsible for drafting documentation on the capabilities of our products and providing written guidance for their use for both external and internal customers. Embedded within a software development team, you will also be responsible for ensuring the knowledge captured during development cycles is communicated within the Mission Systems team.

The Main Duties Of The Role Will Include

• Working within a software team to understand the evolution of our product.
• Updating and maintaining entries in our User Guide / Technical Specification / Release Notes.
• Working with our other technical authors and training team to communicate the functions of our product coherently to end users.
• Providing constructive HMI feedback.
• Contributing to the design of the software and overall system.

Reviewing work produced by others.

These duties will be primarily undertaken in the setting of an agile software development process. We see development of our people as a high priority and mentoring/training to develop in the role will be provided.

This role is based in the Company Offices in Lincoln; remote and flexible working is available where tasking allows - applicants should assume that they may be required to work in the office full-time some weeks and frequently during the probation period.

THE PERSON

We are looking for a proactive, articulate, flexible and confident individual with excellent attention to detail and the discipline to produce consistently high-quality output. You should be capable of accurately communicating complex technical concepts into clear, concise written and visual language, ensuring documentation meets quality and consistency standards.

As a member of a small highly skilled team, you should be confident enough to contribute your own suggestions and ideas and have a ‘can do’ attitude towards helping others. Previous experience of technical authorship is not required, but you will need to show evidence of an inquisitive analytical mind, be able to research issues independently and suggest pragmatic solutions. You should demonstrate a desire to develop professionally.
