Base Location: Kirkwall, Orkney

Salary: £69,105 - £81,406 + car /car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The role

Our SSEN Distribution Customer Operations teams are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power. In this role you will lead a team delivering high standards, driving continuous improvement, and coordinating effective responses during planned and emergency activities.

You will

  • Lead a team consisting of project managers, team managers, frontline crafts staff of all disciplines along with retained staff.
  • Balance the incoming workstreams such as connections, faults, capital replacement and maintenance, ensuring they are delivered on time and within existing units’ rates to the highest standard by the team.
  • Lead emergency responses such as weather events and high customer affected by faults.
  • Identify areas of improvement and implement change where possible.
  • Oversee all day-to-day operations on the island.
  • Be the key contact for other business areas carrying out work on the island and ensure the best engineering solution is being delivered for customers and network.

  • You have

    • A strong EHV, HV and LV operational network knowledge, with current operational authorisations.
    • Strong, proven leadership skills with the ability to adapt to challenging and changing circumstances.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence. others. Is visible to their staff in their environment.
    • Experience of strong stakeholder management and people management skills.

    A full, current driving licence is essential.
