Based within the Internal Bevan Brittan Information Technology team, the successful candidate will support the IT Security Manager in the creation, delivery and BAU of Cyber and Technology security services and policies to the firm


The role

To undertake all aspects of an IT Security Analyst role, including but not limited to the following:

  • Working with both internal business stakeholders & colleagues and external suppliers to establish the highest quality of IT cyber security in both physical and cyber standards.
  • Working with our 3rd party supplier to ensure the security of data, network access, systems and backup systems
  • Managing, deploying and maintaining security infrastructure standards as required via our 3rd party suppliers.
  • Working with our 3rd party suppliers to monitor all IT operations and processes to ensure cyber security standards are maintained.
  • Test and maintain all security measures and processes, proposing changes as required. This includes our internal IT and business policies
  • Working with our 3rd party suppliers to ensure all recommendations, updates and new solutions for the security of our software solutions, networks and data are maintained
  • Work with and educate internal IT colleagues to minimise cyber risk.
  • Maintain relationships and collaborations with other internal departments
  • Liaising with 3rd party suppliers and vendors to ensure productive relationships.
  • Support internal departments in overall security training and compliance for the wider business
  • Work closely with the IT Security Manager to support overall business security and compliance strategies including but not limited to :
  • Risk department with overall Cyber Essential Plus accreditation
  • ISO27001 compliance
  • Support Business transformation projects in maintaining cyber security standards via supplier and solutions reviews
  • Identify new security measures, process and technologies
  • Develop and audit best practice policies
  • Report on any cyber issues and liaise with internal departments such as risk and compliance
  • Support crisis management with internal and external suppliers of any cyber issues, attacks, non-compliance issues.
  • Support information requests from internal departments for IT security content

What we are looking for from you

The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant cyber security certification (e.g. Certified in Cybersecurity (CC), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Security+ by CompTIA) or the ambition and desire to work towards such a certification
  • A careful, methodical approach with excellent attention to detail and strong personal organisation to ensure that issues are followed through and closed out
  • The ability to prioritise work (and reprioritise where urgent issues arise)
  • The ability to work independently and on their own initiative, being ambitious for improvement across the firm, but mindful of, & subject to the priorities set by the IT Security Manager and the wider IT strategy
  • A collegiate, collaborative approach, aware of the day-to-day pressures on partners and lawyers, avoiding 'finger-wagging' and keeping the bigger picture in mind, and being an ambassador for best practice, IS, and the IT team
  • The ability to identify weaknesses in, and improvements to working practices within the IT team to maximise efficiency, including via potential software solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to provide succinct and straightforward advice to internal clients which focuses on pragmatic solutions
  • Prior experience in a cybersecurity team would be advantageous but is not a requirement. Experience of other IT disciplines such as Helpdesk or IT Infrastructure, or of GRC in a technical environment, will also be considered.
  • Familiarity with common security solutions, particularly Arctic Wolf, Sophos and Microsoft Defender
  • Familiarity with information security standards, specifically ISO 27001 and Cyber Essential Plus.
  • Prior experience of working in a regulated business would be highly advantageous.
