Software Engineer
Location: Hybrid in Manchester (1 day per week on-site)
Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract (FTC) – with potential to extend

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with strong backend development expertise to join our team. The ideal candidate will be confident working with modern Java-based technologies, containerised environments, cloud platforms (Azure), and version control best practices. This role requires on-site collaboration one day per week in our Manchester office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Use Git for version control and collaborative development workflows
- Build and deploy containerised applications using Docker
- Work with asynchronous messaging patterns to ensure scalable and resilient system interactions
- Deploy and manage applications within cloud environments, including Azure
- Contribute to and follow CI/CD best practices for build, test, and deployment pipelines
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Proficient in Git for version control
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised application development
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure (e.g., App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure DevOps, or related services)
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to Kubernetes (K8s)
- Experience working with SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol)
- Multi-cloud experience (e.g., AWS and Azure)
