We are recruiting for a Junior IT Service Desk Apprentice at Hampton Court Palace, giving you a fantastic opportunity to grow your IT and Technical Support skills whilst working at the beautiful Hampton Court Palace.

Being an apprentice is an exciting challenge – often demanding but hugely rewarding. You will be training within a heritage environment, working alongside and learning from our experienced and dedicated team, developing skills and knowledge.

The role will involve assisting the Service Desk and IT Operations Managers in arranging and installing Desktops, Laptops and Mobile devices, including being the initial point of contact for Triage and Troubleshooting. This role will require you to communicate effectively with your colleagues and deliver excellent customer service to all Staff and Volunteers.

Whilst Studying Towards Your Apprenticeship You Will Also

Service Desk & User Support

  • Act as the first point of contact for IT incidents and requests.
  • Provide initial triage, troubleshooting and resolution for common IT issues.
  • Log and manage tickets following ITIL-based processes.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to staff and volunteers.

Technical Support

  • Assist with installing and configuring desktops, laptops, mobile devices.
  • Support users with Microsoft 365, Windows, Teams, SharePoint.
  • Learn best practices in endpoint security, patching, and updates.
  • Support hardware diagnostics and break/fix under supervision.

  • Operational Tasks

    • Maintain accurate IT asset records.
    • Assist with user account administration in AD, Azure AD, and M365.
    • Support onboarding and offboarding processes.
    • Assist with monitoring and regular system checks.

    Cross-Site Support

    • Provide support at all Palaces including offices, front-of-house, visitor centres,

    conservation spaces.

    • Assist with meeting room AV, Point of Sale device peripherals, and

    operational tech.

    Professional Development

    • Complete all apprenticeship training modules on time.
    • Participate in shadowing across IT teams (infrastructure, networks,

    cybersecurity).

    • Keep up to date with IT policies and security best practice.

    Other Duties

    • Support IT projects such as device refresh, network improvements,
    • rollouts.
    • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by your manager.

    We do have some essential criteria in order to be successful in your application:

    • You must be 18 years old or over
    • You must not have completed a degree or equivalent level qualification in the UK or elsewhere.
    • You must be able to commute to your assigned place of work
    • Must be able to commit to the full duration of the apprenticeship
