The role:

You’ll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through OMNIA Training and functionally through the Senior Programme Engineering Manager (PEM). Ultimately, you’ll work for the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the wider team to identify issues or opportunities and strategize resolution plans to keep to the schedule and budget. Risk management for all Engineering deliverables, including effective mitigations and monitoring to reduction of risk to closure. Ensure all documentation and deliverables are managed via a Configuration Management / Data Management plan that meets the programme needs. Co-ordinating resources and collating responses, following the Company’s corporate governance policies, processes and procedures, including Gate Reviews. Managing and maintaining a complete and accurate master skills list for all Engineers. Be ‘Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement’. Support the team at formal and artefact reviews as necessary. Any other duties required to meet the needs of the programme.

You’ll want to work in collaboration with other defence training organisations, and the British Army. You won’t let bureaucracy get in the way of what needs to be done, you’ll learn lessons and share these lessons across the team. You won’t necessarily have a military background, but you’ll understand what it means to serve and to put the mi ssion first.
The OMNIA Training Junior PEM is central to the Engineering team. Working in tandem with the Senior PEM, the role manages the efforts of a team of engineers with a variety of skills and backgrounds to achieve the required outputs of a complex and challenging programme.
The Junior PEM supports the Programme Leadership Team, and will routinely interact with the other functions, though principally the Programme Management Office, Finance, Sub-Contract Management and Commercial.
This role requires a systems-thinking mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability work in a multidisciplinary engineering team in a complex and evolving environment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- The ability to plan, report, organise and drive forward the efforts of a multi-faceted engineering team to deliver complex programme outcomes according to time, quality and cost limitations.
- Broad technology experience, with demonstrable experience of enterprise capability development (people, process and technology).
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and processes.
- A solid grasp of programme and project management principles and tools.
Up to 5 paid days volunteering each year.
