Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Lab Engineer to support cutting-edge robotics programs focused on next-generation human-assistive robots. This role is centered around hardware, control systems, and electro-mechanical debugging, ensuring robotic platforms operate reliably for research and real-world applications.

You will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting robotic systems that are actively used in testing environments, ensuring minimal downtime and enabling seamless R&D operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical issues in robotic systems (motors, control boards, wiring, sensors).
  • Perform hands-on debugging and rectification of robots that fail operational tasks or do not execute commands correctly.
  • Disassemble and reassemble robotic components to identify and fix faults.
  • Support deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of robotics platforms across lab environments.
  • Work closely with R&D teams to test, validate, and improve system performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for troubleshooting, repairs, and system changes.
  • Read and interpret engineering schematics and system diagrams.
  • Ensure lab/workshop compliance with health & safety standards and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistency across sites.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Background in Electrical / Mechanical / Robotics Engineering or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics systems, electro-mechanical debugging, or hardware repair.
  • Strong understanding of control systems and embedded hardware behavior.
  • Experience working in labs, workshops, or prototyping environments
.
  • Ability to troubleshoot motors, boards, wiring, and system-level issues.
  • Basic Linux knowledge for diagnostics and debugging (not software development).
  • Ability to read and understand technical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.

  • Preferred Experience

    • Prior experience in robotics maintenance or support roles.
    • Exposure to start-up or fast-paced R&D environments.
    • Familiarity with root cause analysis (RCA) and failure diagnostics.

    Soft Skills

    • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Strong communication and documentation skills
    • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
    • Adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment

    Key Note

This is a hardware/control systems-focused role, not a software development position. Candidates should have strong hands-on experience in debugging and repairing electro-mechanical systems, particularly within robotics or similar domains.

    Working Model

    • Fully onsite role based in London
    • Shift-based working environment
    • Lab/workshop setting
