We are FluoRok, a fast-growing VC-backed start-up that is reinventing the way fluorochemicals are produced. Spun-out of the University of Oxford in 2022, FluoRok is developing safe, sustainable, and lower-cost routes towards key fluorinated materials that are fundamental to our daily life and energy transition, e.g. agrochemicals & Li-ion battery electrolyte salts. Requirements

The Laboratory Analyst will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of FluoRok's analytical laboratory. Working under the supervision of the Senior Analytical Development Chemist, the successful candidate will apply analytical chemistry techniques and follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform a range of laboratory analyses. These activities will support purity assessment and quality control across FluoRok's materials portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine analyses on raw materials, intermediates, and products
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of FluoRok's analytical suite
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and documentation as required
  • Support laboratory housekeeping activities and uphold a high standard of working practices
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of FluoRok's analytical laboratory workflow

Essential

  • Degree (BSc / MChem / MSc or equivalent) in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or equivalent
  • >2 years industrial experience in an analytical laboratory
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to follow SOPs accurately
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following techniques: IC, ICP-OES, LC and NMR
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English
  • Right to live and work in the UK

  • Desirable

    • Experience in trace analysis techniques
    • Prior experience working in a quality control (QC) laboratory
    • Hands-on experience with sample preparation under inert atmospheres (e.g. glovebox)

    Benefits

    Salary range £30,000-£35,000 per annum
