Are you looking for job security and the opportunity to be part of an innovative and supportive team?

We are looking for Qualified NCO2s to join our team of Gas Engineers! SGN has an outstanding reputation for delivering gas safely, reliably, and efficiently — and every engineer plays a key role in keeping our customers safe and warm.

We are also open to applications from experienced Service Layers (minimum 3–4 years’ experience) who are keen to progress and complete the training required to become fully qualified Main Layers. If you’re ready to take the next step in your career, we’ll support you all the way.

I help to keep people safe and warm by…

  • Working predominately on gas service/mains replacement activities, excavating in public and private highways for the laying and repairing of gas pipes
  • Being in a variety of outdoor environments, working safely and as part of a team
  • Using computer field systems
  • Achieving high standards of safety and technical competence
  • Opportunity to mentor trainee engineers

  • What You’ll Need

    • Qualifications (Required): GN01, GN02 (Main Layer) OR GNO1, GNO2 Service Layer experience (3–4 years minimum) with a willingness to complete Main Layer training
    • Qualifications (Preferred but not essential): NRSWA, ELR, SCO 1, 2, 4, 5
    • A full and valid driving licence
    • Confidence using technology and field ‑ based systems
    • A friendly and approachable attitude with excellent customer service skills

Not sure you meet every requirement?

Research shows some people – particularly women and those from underrepresented backgrounds – may hesitate to apply unless they meet every criteria. At SGN, we value diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.

If this role interests you but you’re not sure you tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you. You might be just who we’re looking for – now or in the future.

    Why SGN?

SGN is a leader in pioneering research and development toward a net-zero energy system. Our cutting-edge technologies and innovative thinking are driving change in the gas industry, all while keeping people safe and warm.
