This advert is for a 12 month secondment Band 7, full time 37.5 hours. This will be across site working at both RDH & QHB. Monday - Friday during office hours.

Do you have extensive gynaecology or triage experience and are now ready for a new leadership challenge?

We are pleased to offer an exciting 12‑month secondment opportunity for an experienced and motivated nurse to take on the role of Lead Gynaecology Triage Nurse within UHDB.

This is a key leadership post supporting the Suspected Cancer Pathway by overseeing a streamlined and efficient triage service for all 2‑week wait referrals entering the Gynaecology service. Working collaboratively with the Gynaecology Triage Team, you will play a vital role in shaping, embedding and continually improving this developing service.

This role requires an experienced clinician with strong decision‑making skills, a commitment to patient-centred care, and the ability to lead and support a small but growing multidisciplinary triage team. The successful candidate will provide both clinical expertise and operational oversight to ensure safe, timely and effective patient pathways.

As The Lead Gynaecology Triage Nurse, You Will

  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to the Gynaecology Triage Team.
  • Lead on the triage of all suspected cancer referrals, ensuring timely assessment of referrals, ultrasound reports, blood results and arranging further investigations where required.
  • Act as a senior autonomous practitioner, making safe, evidence-based clinical decisions within scope of practice.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for patients on the suspected cancer pathway, providing information, reassurance, and support throughout their diagnostic journey.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with Consultants, GP referrers, MDT members, Imaging and other multidisciplinary teams to facilitate coordinated patient care.
  • Support monitoring and compliance with cancer waiting time targets, ensuring timely escalation and resolution of pathway delays.
  • Contribute to service evaluation, pathway development and quality improvement projects to improve patient experience and service delivery.
  • Oversee staff development, including supporting the completion of the Gynaecology Triage Competency Package and providing training, mentorship and clinical support.
