Contract Type: Permanent

Location:  Edinburgh

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

Royal London are seeking an expertly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our Digital area.  The successful candidate will join one of our Squads developing new features and improvements within the Digital area, where you will play a lead role in building digital solutions for our customers and business users. 

 

About you 

 

  • Expert working in Angular.
  • Expert working in .Net (C#).
  • Expert working in SQL environment.
  • Expert in TDD and left-most automated testing.
  • Proficient in utilising Azure DevOps.
  • Experienced in agile development practices and the full software development lifecycle.
  • Thrives under little to no supervision.
  • An experienced development lead and mentor.
  • Continuously developing new skills, driving best practice and emerging technology adoption.

 

About the Opportunity

 

In this role, you will be the Lead Engineer, where you will help us on our journey developing Digital Solutions by:

  • Support the day to day running of the application(s), ensuring deployed services are resilient, compliant, and secure.
  • Respond to incidents and requests, ensuring we manage our services within SLA.
  • Deploy new Azure services and infrastructure via CICD pipelines, in a resilient, cost-effective fashion.
  • Work with the squad to help deploy and maintain the application services, including the code, pipelines and tests.
  • Lead the Design and Development of complex solutions for application(s) owned by your squad.
  • Carries out impact assessment of complex changes to existing applications.
  • Ensure Documents and agreed designs are in advance and to agreed standards.
  • Takes responsibility that all code meets Group standards, guidelines and quality gates for given technology.
  • Ensure all code is thoroughly tested to ensure any issues are identified as early as possible, working closely with the test team.
  • Will safely implement solutions to production environment(s).
  • Collaborate with other Testers, Engineers, Analysts and Stakeholders to deliver high quality solutions for the Applications owned by your Squad.
  • Contributes and Lead software development practice by sharing ideas and experience.
  • Ensure that code is per agreed standards.
