Description

We are recruiting for a passionate and professional Learning and Development (L&D) Consultant to join us in our HR department on a part-time, permanent basis.

The role

As one of six L&D professionals reporting to the L&D Manager, you will work directly with individuals and teams across the organisation to identify learning needs and devise, curate and/or procure innovative and engaging learning solutions across a range of topic areas that help to optimise performance and develop skills for future roles.

You will hold a broad and strategically important portfolio, with particular responsibility for supporting a large operational regulatory team.

Your work may include:

  • developing and implementing accredited and / or programme based learning - such as structured learning pathways, multi-module programmes and externally accredited programmes
  • technical, regulatory and role-specific skills - specialist training such as niche regulatory topics, emerging risk areas, specialist operational processes and internal 'masterclasses'
  • supporting and developing personal development, leadership and management and programmes and individual effectiveness courses.
  • project specific, change based work, system, process and compliance training.
  • We are looking for someone who can develop collaborative stakeholder relationships, with a proven track record of owning and delivering full lifecycle L&D solutions and providing well‑judged advice and guidance. You'll need to be able to leverage multiple design channels, be confident challenging assumptions, shaping requirements, and guiding stakeholders towards effective, scalable and sustainable learning solutions.

This job requires someone who can operate across the full learning cycle - from needs analysis and design through to delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement. You will be involved in identifying and managing external suppliers and will also be responsible for designing and implementing externally accredited programmes, so experience in these areas, will be highly valuable.

To both succeed in, and importantly enjoy this role, you will need to be organised, flexible, and energised by working at pace. You will be comfortable managing multiple projects and workstreams at once, navigating competing priorities, and maintaining a clear and consistent approach across a busy and dynamic department.

What is in it for you?

    • Join a passionate and skilled team in a complex and interesting organisation.
    • Manage and deliver major training programmes that support the development of colleagues and contribute to a positive employee experience and business performance.
    • Showcase your creativity and full learning and development cycle expertise, including the opportunity to lead on large‑scale, programme‑based work.
    • The role can be offered on a part‑time basis (3 or 4 days per week), which may appeal to experienced L&D professionals seeking greater flexibility.

    What we are looking for

    • Significant experience of the complete learning and development cycle, including needs analysis, design, delivery and evaluation.
    • Someone who is able to envision, create and deploy effective, innovative and high‑quality learning solutions.
    • Extensive learning and development experience with outstanding delivery and facilitation skills
    • Experience of managing external suppliers and/or procuring learning solutions
    • Ideally, experience of designing or implementing externally accredited programmes
  • Someone who is a collaborative team player.
  • First‑class communication, relationship building, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to guide and challenge stakeholders where needed.
  • Useful information

This role is offered on a part time basis of three or four days a week. It's a hybrid role, based in our Birmingham office, typically one or two days a week. The role may also be required to travel to other locations (Cardiff and London) from time to time. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly in terms of days in the office, and fulfil the travel requirements of the post.

You can find details about our benefits package on our website - including:

    • Additional 3% of annual basic salary for you to choose the benefits that best suit your lifestyle and personal situation.
    • Pension - We will contribute 1½ - 2 times your contribution, up to 12.25%. So, if you contribute 7%, you will enjoy the maximum combined contribution of 19.25%.
    • 25 days annual leave (pro-rated for part time), plus bank holidays and buy/sell/save holiday trading scheme.
    • Monthly well being allowance and access to employee discount vouchers for savings on High Street brands, travel and supermarkets.
