Summary
This is a hands-on role within a mission-driven international organisation. As Legal Counsel in Climate Group’s Legal team, you will directly enable our mission to drive climate action, fast. You will be a trusted adviser, helping our colleagues across the business move quickly and confidently by managing risk in a pragmatic, solutions-focused way.
This is the ideal role for a lawyer who thrives on high-impact work and enjoys being close to the heart of the business. You’ll have a sharp instinct for when to resolve issues independently and take full ownership of a matter, and when to pull in the Head of Legal for a strategic steer.
About the role
Join a lean, "business-first" Legal team at Climate Group, an award-winning international non-profit driving the global climate agenda. Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role is designed for a mid-level commercial lawyer who thrives on the autonomy to run their own matters, while operating in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
You’ll be the “go-to” lawyer on day-to-day commercial contracting for partnerships, sponsorships, and events. As a trusted partner to the wider business, you’ll provide incisive, commercial advice to keep our mission moving. If you’re looking for a role with real breadth and a direct link to environmental impact, this is it.
Key responsibilities will include:
As a mission-driven organisation, we may ask colleagues to take on temporary assignments or secondments in a different team to support organisational priorities. We see these as opportunities for development and internal mobility, managed transparently and with appropriate support.
You’ll work in a highly collaborative, international environment, where a diversity of perspectives and experiences is valued and encouraged.
About you
Experience and knowledge
You have end‑to‑end commercial experience, ideally as a mid‑level lawyer, with hands‑on strength in negotiations, IP and brand management, and advising on partnerships, sponsorships, events, and core commercial agreements (MSAs, consultancy agreements). You can clearly translate legal risk for non‑lawyers, build trusted relationships across teams, and apply proportionate, mission‑led risk management. You also have a solid working knowledge of GDPR/PECR, applied to marketing, data sharing, international partners, and events.
Personal qualities
You are pragmatic, calm, and solutions‑focused, with sound judgement on when to flex and when to hold firm. You are organised and delivery‑minded, able to manage competing priorities while keeping sight of the bigger mission. With strong attention to detail, you spot issues early and ensure documents are accurate and fit for purpose. You communicate clearly and practically, are collaborative and approachable, and take full ownership to drive matters forward and close them out.
We value strengths and a passion for learning – if you meet the criteria below, we encourage you to apply.
