Legal Counsel (Commercial)

We are delighted to be representing a University, based in London, who are looking to appoint a Commercial Legal Adviser on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time position, due to start in September and they can offer a starting salary of up to £51,525.

The client is looking for a newly qualified lawyer, or a non-qualified candidate with substantial experience in this field.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Undertaking contract casework on all areas of the University’s core business including but not limited to:

- student contracts

- domestic and international academic partnership contracts

- domestic and international research funding and collaboration

- apprenticeship agreements

- practice placement agreements

- international recruitment agent agreements

- consultancy agreements

- NDAs

- MOUs

- knowledge exchange agreements

- external hire and location agreements

- licensing agreements

- donation and volunteering agreements

- data sharing agreements and IT software agreements

• Reviewing, advising, negotiating and drafting commercial terms and conditions, and other legal documents
• Assisting the Legal Services Team by liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the correct information has been provided and to obtain outstanding information
• Identifying contractual and practical risks and liabilities and proposing mitigation strategies

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• Experience at a law firm or in an in-house environment
• Experience of contract drafting, review, interpretation and amendment, as well as advising on contractual documents
